Why I Use Drugstore Makeup vs. Makeup from High End Stores (Beauty Post!)

Hello readers!

I am so excited to write a beauty post after such a long time of writing one. One of my most read posts is about the first time I dyed my hair so I always love sharing my beauty secrets.

This is my first post that is specifically makeup related. I would like to say that I buy most of my makeup from CVS, Target, or a grocery store. And occasionally Ulta. When people hear this, their jaws drop because my makeup “looks so good”. Random people in restaurants, the mall, you name itΒ  have complimented me on my makeup before. AND I AM SO FLATTERED.

I never bought my makeup from Sephora because…I didn’t see the point of spending 3x the money on something that does the same thing.

Now that I have a job, I thought I would treat myself!

How many of you have heard of the charcoal mask? Okay me too. There were a 100 of these videos appearing on my Facebook and Youtube. It looked like a nice tool to take away all impurities of the face. I had to try it! Most of the reviewers were using Boscia Black Mask. Which was only to be found at Sephora. And it is $34 there. But like I said, I just got a new job so-treat yo self! So, I went to 3 different Sephoras- they were all sold out! Damn, now I was really convinced this product was good. Okay, so I got on the online store and ordered it. Plus shipping that cost me $42. Oy ve. But the videos of other women using it looked so promising I stopped freaking out. And since shipping was already costing me a fortune, I thought I would add on another item. Another product ladies seem to love, Too Faced’s Better Than Sex Mascara. Okay with a name like that, it had to be good right?? So I added that. This is usually a $23 item but thankfully, they just releasedΒ  a travel size at $12. I bought that so if I don’t like it, it won’t go to waste.

Both of these arrived after a week. So….review time!

boscia1.) Boscia Black Mask

This mask had a nice texture. Very nice calming minty smell. Cool feeling. I had to keep it on for 30 minutes. Once time was up, I began peeling. The peeling did not hurt a pinch. When a mask pulls off blackheads, zits, or any impurities- it kind of hurts. So this told me, the mask didn’t pull anything. And when I looked at the mask- IT HAD NOTHING. And don’t tell me I have perfect skin, because I use Biore Pore Strips and let me tell you…no bueno.

Okay so great. I was going to cry. $42 out of my first paycheck went to a product that didn’t work.

Onto the mascara! I had high hopes after this failure.

2.) Too Faced: Better Than Sex MascaraIMG_7022

Like I said, with a name like this- it had to be good. I put it on my right eye. It was pretty nice! I loved the travel size, it is only the size of a chapstick so I can carry it around if I need to. I loved the brush. And I loved how it’s waterproof but didn’t look clumpy.

BUT. I ALREADY HAVE A MASCARA I REGULARLY USE. WHO WINS??

The mascara I normally use is Loreal’s Voluminous Manga Mascara. This masacara has never let me down and it is only $7 (yes for full size) vs. Too Faced’s $23 for their full size mascara. So I had to put it to the test. I put the Loreal Mascara on my left eye.

HOLY MOLY.

Do you see the difference in the picture?

Some of you may be looking at the picture an thinking “Wow Shaz. You are beautiful. I can’t tell the difference between your two eyelashes! They look the same!”

And I would say aw thanks reader BUT….

If you pay close attention to detail, you will notice that on my left eyelashes, the Loreal mascara gave my eyelashes so much more length and volume than Too Faced’s mascara.

And this is why I buy my makeup from non-high end makeup stores πŸ™‚ And there is nothing wrong with that! Maybelline, Rimmel, Loreal, Covergirl (my top 4 favorites!) are EXCELLENT brands.

But again, to each girl her own πŸ™‚ When I get my paychecks, I will try more products from high end stores πŸ™‚

Ladies! What do you think? Where do you prefer to get your makeup? What are some of your favorite brands? Comment below!

AND A SPECIAL TREAT: Because many of you have asked what each makeup on my face is, I will do a post on that soon.

xoxo. Shaz.

Exotic Girl Beauty Necessities- Eyebrow Management

eyeThreading eyebrows.

Dear reader,

I probably haven’t told you this before, but I am of an exotic race.

Urban dictionary defines exotic it as:

“Being from Asia, South America, Caribbean, Mediterranean, Persia, Arabia, etc… basically, anyone with tan skin, black shiny hair, big luscious lips.” Okay then, I will go along with that.
And being an exotic woman, there are many things we need to do. In this post I will be talking about the deal with threading eyebrows!
Bless us. We have nice, thick, full eyebrows. And we need to get them threaded. My other friends just pluck…they have no clue why I go through the pain of threading lol. Technically, I should be getting them done once a month, but I only go once a season haha πŸ™‚
eyebrowsBut that’s the thing, if you wait too long, EVERYONE NOTICES! I walked into the salon yesterday, I didn’t even tell the receptionist what I needed, and she told me to sit down and started threading them right away! And oh my goodness, it HURT! It usually does hurt lol…but this time, dear God, it hurt even more. There were tears coming down my eyes. I thought that was bad, the next time she pulled even harder, and now I have a new blister above my eyebrow. Cute. But dang, I walked out that salon, and looked fabulous ❀ I look forward to my next appointment haha πŸ™‚

The Problem With Having Dark Hair

Hello reader!

Hooray for my first beauty post πŸ™‚ Today I will be talking to you about my hair. Let me say, my natural hair is long, black, and wavy. It’s absolutely beautiful! But, this week being Spring Break, key word being “spring”, I decided it was time for a change.

I started out by getting it cut. I told the stylist to take off 2 inches, not 4….So now I have medium length hair. This is okay reader! It grows back fast anyway πŸ™‚

But I decided, if this dramatic change occurred to my hair, we might as well dye it too! I always wanted that auburn hair tint to my black hair, so I bought this dye by Garnier Fructis. 1000947_751861_A_400And sadly, it did not work 😦 You’re gonna need to take a magnifying glass to see my newly “dyed” hair! I mean I guess you could say it looks lighter? As I looked online to see what other women with dark hair do, I saw that they get it done professionally. As this is a problem with having naturally dark hair, the dye won’t show up! Sooo we’ll try that next time ❀

xoxo. S.
